BOOK CLUB: FLOWER PHILOSOPHY
Occasionally, we come across a book that becomes a permanent fixture on our shelves. This is the case with Anna Potter’s book entitled Flower Philosophy. A playful mix of flower arranging techniques punctuated with rich and meaningful prose. Organized by season, Anna’s musings on the fleeting nature and symbolic meaning behind Earth’s calendar left us alternating between introspection and escapism. Similar to recipes, she outlines the floral ingredients and step by step methods, so even a novice can achieve a similar look. It is much more than a how-to workbook; there is heartbreakingly beautiful poetry set against India Hobson’s masterful imagery. The kind of writing that makes you set the book down while you reflect. The collision of words and photography captured our hearts and gently tugged at our creative souls. We will be reaching for Flower Philosophy at the start of each season to ready our minds and deepen our appreciation of nature’s cycle.
